Barre Fitness-Not Just for Ballerinas

Have you ever been to a Ballet class? Technical terms, strict instructors, focused completely on technicality and aesthetic? That is not what barre fitness is about...well...it kinda is the backbone of the class but it's not Russian-Ballet-strict.


Barre Fitness is a hybrid class made up of Ballet, Pilates and Yoga. Sounds great, right? It is. It's a full body workout using your body, a ballet barre, usually some light weights and sometimes a small ball.


The class usually lasts 45 minutes to an hour and includes a warm-up & stretch, some light cardio, pilates (using the weights), barre ballet-stlye exercises, floor work (more lower body and core), and then finishes with some nice stretching. The class can be great for all ages, due the the low impact, yet high results.
